Are you living your life fearlessly?

Are you living your life fearlessly?

“Go out and live your life fearlessly.” – Anita Moorjani

This is a quote from one of my favorite books. It’s a quote that has become a mantra for me especially now during these crazy times.

Every trip I’ve ever taken has come with risks starting all the way back in 2001 when I studied abroad in London…10 days after 9/11. In those early days after 9/11 so much was unknown. Everyone told me I shouldn’t go to London because “it was going to be the next place to be attacked.” I went anyway and had a life-changing experience living in a foreign country on my own for the first time.

In 2003, I went to South Africa as a volunteer and lived with a local family in a neighborhood where crime was a part of everyday life. I stopped in London on my way to South Africa where I met some South Africans. When I told them where my volunteer placement was they were horrified and told me I shouldn’t go. I went anyways and had another life-changing experience.

In 2014, I traveled to Thailand during the Bangkok protests and just last year to Paris during the Yellow Jacket protests. Both of those trips I had people tell me I shouldn’t go because of the possible violence.

In 2017, I traveled to Mexico pregnant during the Zika “crisis” (what happened to Zika anyways?!).

So when I was invited to join a group of travel agents to visit Couples Resorts in Jamaica during our current pandemic I thought….why not?! I’ve never let fear hold me back from experiencing the world before so why would I start now?

Before every single one of these trips did I second guess myself and consider not going? Absolutely! And this applies to so many decisions I’ve made in life…not just travel decisions. But the one thing I’ve learned is it’s always the times that I push past the fear and really listen to my heart that I grow the most and this latest trip was no exception.

We are all living in a world full of fear right now. I encourage you all to turn off the noise, get out in nature, dig your toes in the soil and ground yourself. This too shall pass. Live your life fearlessly and I promise you won’t regret it!
